Title: An Efficient Novel Reduced Order Observer for State Estimation of an Internal Combustion Engine Model

Abstract: In this paper, a reduced order observer is designed and implemented for state estimation of an internal combustion engine (ICE) model. In most engineering systems, certain states are directly measurable. Therefore, it is not cost effective and increases computational complexity to use a full order observer which will demand faster, more powerful processors. This is particularly the case in powertrain systems such as internal combustion engine. Here, we validate the use of a reduced order observer, through comparison, simulation and analysis as a suitable solution to this problem.
